THE AMERICAN CRAFT SHOW. Call for applications. Juried. Deadline July 31. Pick and choose among the wholesale show in Baltimore and the American Craft Council’s six retail shows produced across the country, throughout 2009. THE ALTERED TOY PROJECT. Call for participants. Deadline September 19. The 2nd Mend donation project (Mend is a non-profit educational arts organization, located in Boise, ID, exploring the potential of handmade objects). Through this project, the hope is to expand awareness of the importance of craft, improve quality of life for those in need and provide an organized opportunity to give back. Keeping with current trends towards green projects, artists are invited to reuse existing toys, in the creation of new toys. All contributing artist/craftspeople will be part of Mend’s donation to the Children’s Home of Idaho. QUILT NATIONAL '09. Call for entries. Juried. Prizes. Deadline September 5. Work must (a) possess the most basic structural characteristics of a quilt, (b) be an original design of the entrant, (c) have been completed after September, 2006, and (d) measure no more than 108" (270 cm). The competition will be on display May 23–September 7, 2009, at the Dairy Barn Cultural Artists Center in Athens, Ohio. August 15. Columbia Basin Weavers and Spinners Guild 2008 Show August 21–September
7, Chelan County Fair September 4–7, Cashmere, Washington. In addition
to technical judging, the theme of the show offers an opportunity to show, share,
and be rewarded for, your quest in becoming successful at fiber artistry. Submit
your entry of spinning, weaving, knitting, felting, or crochet along with a short
essay describing the challenge you worked through to emerge at the other end
of the quest victorious. Describe your voyage, what challenges you faced, what
changes you made, what ideas you altered to achieve your goal. Send entries to
